Pylenet Guidelines The Pylenet network is to provide up-to-date information relating to Pyle PTSA business, school affairs, or educational matters. It is not designed to be a discussion board. 1. You must have a child attending Pyle, or be a Pyle faculty member, to use Pylenet. Students may not use the network. Incoming fifth grade parents may subscribe to Pylenet after Spring Break. 2. When you post a message, please be certain that the content is related to PTSA business, school matters, or general education issues. It is not a forum for "discussing" specific students or teachers. 3. The purpose of the network is to inform and query regarding the issues described above. Therefore, personal attacks, hostile remarks, and foul language are not appropriate. 4. A monitoring system will help to insure proper utilization, and everyone who does not adhere to the above guideline may be deleted as a subscriber by agreement of the Pyle PTSA Special Monitoring Committee. 5. When responding to a posted message, select "reply to sender" only unless you are absolutely certain that all Pylenet subscribers should receive your response. A general posting to the entire network will be received by hundreds of people. 6. Compliance with PTSA Bylaws requires that messages may not directly or indirectly relate to any political campaign on behalf of, or in opposition to, any candidate for public office. 7. E-mail addresses should not be shared with people who are not Pylenet subscribers, nor used for any reason unrelated to Pylenet. 8. All posted messages must be "signed" by the author. Your message will not be posted without your name. 9. All messages relating to Whitman High School or the cluster's elementary schools must have the appropriate school name as the first word in the subject line of the message. =============== Pylenet also supports posts of a less official nature, such as car pool info and requests, non-school sports team announcements, and lost/found item reports. In order to keep the number of posts on Pylenet to a minimum, all Announcements messages will be consolidated into a single weekly post, sent each Monday morning. Although we are loosening the Pylenet rules for the Weekly Community Announcements, there are still some types of posts that we do not think are appropriate for this forum. For example, "discussion" type posts will still not be accepted. Business advertisements will be permitted, but will be listed in a separate section of the Announcements. Advertisements for a given person/business will not be posted more than one time each calendar month. If you have a post that you would like to include in the Weekly Community Announcements, please email it to the moderator for weekly announcements at: Lewis E Guthman [lguthman@comcast.net] Messages for the Announcements cannot exceed 200 words. Please do not use html coding in your message - for example, you can include a link to an image in your message, but you cannot embed an image so that it automatically loads in the reader’s email program (this can really slow things down). All messages in the Announcements will be sent in the same font and size (formatted by the moderator when the weekly message is sent - so it does not matter what font or size you use to submit it, as it will be standardized later).
